The beech wood nails serve as fasteners for such things as rebates and boards on facades. The nails are shot into the wood at high speed via a special tacker. Due to the high impact force, a lot of frictional heat is released, causing the lignin in the wooden nail (a type of natural resin) to fuse with the surrounding wood.
