Description
The Self-Tapping Plate Screw is uniquely produced from 2 materials, also called Bi-Metal.
At the transition between the pointed point and the flat thread, the Steel point and the stainless steel A2 body are ground together. This special machining creates a strong pointed point and a Stainless Steel fastener on your facade.
The pointed point causes the material to be pushed back, this gives the screw more meat to hold into. This ensures a much stronger attachment than, for example, a drilling screw. The 16 mm EPDM washer provides protection against weathering.
Drill point must be approx. 10 mm away from the rear construction to prevent corrosion.
Application
The Self-tapping Plate Screw is designed for attaching facade systems and solar panel constructions to sandwich panels.
Processing Instructions
- Insert the screw with increased pressure and low rotational speed (approximately 200 revolutions).
- Pressure can be reduced once the screw thread engages. The rotational speed can then be increased to about 1600 revolutions.
- Reduce the rotational speed significantly and tighten the seal ring until it is slightly compressed just before the seal ring contacts the thread.
- Recommended tightening torque for steel rear construction approx. 3 Nm, below 8.0 mm material thickness 1 Nm.
- Recommended tightening torque for aluminum subframe approx. 1 Nm, below 8.0 mm material thickness 0.5 Nm.
Maintenance
The screws can be cleaned with water or a mild soap solution and a soft sponge in the event of any soiling caused by environmental or climatic influences (e.g. sawdust during façade construction, soot deposits, flash rust in coastal areas, etc.).
When using a soap solution after cleaning, rinse the facade with water
The use of solvents or solvents for cleaning is not permitted.
When using these screws, we recommend having a structural engineer calculate how many screws are required and the desired center distance.
